Don’t Have Garam Masala? Here Are 5 Substitutes To Try

By Deepali Verma

Luckily, there are a number of spices that may be used in place of garam masala without compromising the flavour of the meal. Here are five alternatives to think about.

Curry Powder

Garam masala can be replaced with curry powder in any dish. If you'd normally use garam masala, you can substitute curry powder instead.

Sambar Masala

Another spice blend like garam masala is sambar masala. It can enrich your dish's flavour. Due to its spiciness, sambar masala should be used sparingly. It's preferable to follow 1:1.

Spice mix- Jeera, Coriander and Elaichi

Making your own spice blend is the greatest approach to substitute garam masala. In a blender, grind jeera (cumin), coriander, and elaichi. It's preferable to mix them all and grind them.

Chaat Masala

Chaat masala can replace garam masala. Use as much as garam masala. This masala can replace garam masala because its constituents are comparable.

Cinnamon, fenugreek (saunf), and cloves can replace garam masala at home. Roast them on low-medium heat, then grind them in a mixer grinder. This spice blend will improve the flavour of your dish.
