A tasty and nutritious dish prepared with bitter gourd (karela) and a number of spices. It's delicious and crunchy!
3-4 medium-sized karelas (bitter gourds), sliced thinly 2 tbsp oil 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 1/4 tsp hing (asafoetida) 1 onion, chopped 1 tomato, chopped 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp coriander powder Salt to taste 1/4 cup water Coriander leaves for garnishing
Take Karela and wash them, slice the karelas thinly and Remove the seeds. Now Sprinkle salt over the karela slices and keep them aside.
This will help to reduce the bitterness. Rinse the karela slices with water and squeeze out the excess water.
Now Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and hing.
Add in chopped onions and sauté. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and salt. Add the karela slices and mix well.
Now Add water, cover the pan, and let the karela cook until they become soft. Garnish with coriander and serve hot!
