Walking into a coffee shop, the variety of coffee drinks on offer might confuse you. Here's different types of coffee drinks, explained.

Coffee that's brewed without adding sugar, milk, cream, or other flavourings.

Black Coffee

Courtesy Italy, a small amount of boiling water is forced under pressure through ground coffee beans for a concentrated caffeine shot.

Espresso

Coffee that has been brewed with cold rather than hot water anywhere between 12-24 hours.

Cold Brew

An espresso-based coffee drink that is topped evenly with steamed milk and foamed milk.

Cappuccino

Espresso topped with steamed milk and a light layer of foamed milk.

Latte

Caffè Americano is prepared by diluting an espresso with hot water.

Americano

This drink combines drip coffee with one or two shots of espresso.

Red Eye

Also called mocaccino, is a chocolate-flavoured latte commonly served in a glass.

Mocha

An espresso topped with a small amount of milk, usually foamed.

Macchiato

Regularly brewed hot coffee that's chilled and then served over ice.
