Dhaba-Style Mutton Masala Curry For A Homemade Feast

A popular North Indian delicacy, “Dhaba-Style Mutton Masala Curry," is often served in roadside dhabas. This delicious dish is loved because of the tender chunks of mutton that absorb the flavours of the gravy. It is eaten with laccha paratha or naan, with a simple salad on side.  Here is a recipe to try:

Ingredients

For marination   1/2 kg of mutton   1/2 teaspoon haldi   1 teaspoon red chilli powder   3 teaspoons of yoghurt   Salt to taste   For curry   1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder   1/2 teaspoon haldi   2 teaspoons of oil   1 teaspoon of cumin powder   1 teaspoon of coriander powder   1 teaspoon garam masala   1 teaspoon of cumin seeds   3 garlic cloves   2 red chillies   2 onions, sliced   2 tomatoes, sliced   1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste   Salt to taste   A handful of curry leaves   Coriander leaves for garnishing 

Step 1

Marinate mutton pieces with yoghurt, ginger-garlic paste, and spices like turmeric, chilli powder, and garam masala. 

Step 2

Heat oil in a pan and sauté chopped onions, tomatoes, ginger, and garlic until golden brown.  

Step 3

Add spices like cumin, coriander, and Kashmiri red chilli powder and cook until fragrant.  

Step 4

Add the marinated mutton to the pan and cook until it changes colour.  

Step 5

Add water or broth, cover, and simmer until the mutton is tender. 

Step 5

Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with rice or bread for an authentic dhaba-style experience.
