Kulkuls are said to be inspired by Portuguese Filhoses Enroladas. This crispy, curly sweet treat is very crucial to Goa’s Christmas fare.
1/2 kg - Maida Milk of 1 Coconut A pinch - Food colouring Oil (as required) 2 - eggs Sugar as required Salt as required
Mix in maida, coconut milk, salt and eggs, make a soft chapati like dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and keep aside for half an hour.
Make very small balls, give them a curly shape. Fry kulkuls on low flame till brown. Remove kulkuls, allow to cool.
Heat sugar and water with little colouring, till it is a bit thick. Pour over Kulkuls, make sure they are evenly coated.
Allow it to cool and store in an airtight container.
