Due to a high fibre content, dalia can keep you full for a longer period, hence promoting weight loss. Learn how to make it.
1 tsp ghee, ½ cup broken wheat, 1 tsp oil, 1 tsp cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida, ½ tsp ginger paste, 2 green chilli, 1 tomato, 2 tbsp peas, ½ carrot, ½ tsp turmeric, salt to taste, ½ cup moong dal (soaked), 4 cups water
In a pan heat ghee and add broken wheat and roast on low flame for 2-3 minutes and keep aside.
In a cooker, heat oil, add jeera and pinch of asafoetida. Sauté till the cumin splutters. Then, add ginger paste, green chilli and sauté for a minute.
Add in tomato and sauté till it turns soft and mushy. Then add peas, carrot, turmeric and salt. Saute for a minute or two.
Add in moong dal, cook for a minute then add water and give a good stir. Now cover and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
Finally, serve mixed vegetable dalia with curd or some pickle.
