Dal pitha is a Bihari dish that showcased how Richa’s culinary skills developed over time. It was also a recipe that signified the fact that she was slowly taking her mother-in-law’s place in the house, which was slightly unsettling for her too. Follow this guide to make this delicious delicacy at home.
For Rice Dough 1 cup rice 0r 1/2 cup rice flour 1 teaspoon oil 1 pinch of salt Water for cooking

For Dal Stuffing 3/4 cup chana dal 2 green chillies 1-inch ginger 3 garlic cloves 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1/4 tsp pepper 1/2 tsp ajwain 1 tsp oil Salt to taste 2 tbsp coriander leaves 1 tsp oil
Cook rice flour with water and salt over low heat until it begins to bind.
Soak dal for three hours and drain excess water from it.
Heat kadhai on a low flame and cook dal with spices. Grin it into a paste.
Roll a small portion of rice dough, add lentils mix in the centre, and seal edges.
Steam the gujiya-shaped pithas in an oven or a steamer.
Serve the dish with chutney and sauces.
