Crunchy Punjabi Mathri To Pair With Your Evening Chai

Mathri is a crunchy snack that is often indulged with evening tea in most Punjabi households. If you would like to have a crispy and flavourful snack with your chai or coffee, try this easy recipe for Punjabi mathri.

Ingredients

2 cups maida ½ cup whole wheat flour 3 tablespoons ghee 5-6 tablespoons water 2 teaspoons ajwain 2 teaspoons kali mirch 2 teaspoons kasuri methi 1 teaspoon jeera 1 pinch hing 1 pinch baking soda Salt to taste Oil for deep frying

Step 1

Heat some ghee and set aside.

Step 2

Mix maida, atta, ajwain, kali mirch, kasuri methi, jeera, hing, and salt.

Step 3

Knead a dough by adding warm ghee and water. Let the dough rest for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Take small portions of the dough and roll them into thick discs.

Step 5

Deep fry the mathri till they are golden brown.

Step 6

Let the mathri cool down and enjoy with your chai.
