Murmura chikki is a popular Indian sweet snack made from puffed rice (murmura) and jaggery. It combines crispy textures with the rich sweetness of jaggery, perfect for a quick energy boost.
2 cups murmura (puffed rice) 1 cup jaggery (gur), chopped into small pieces 1 tablespoon ghee (clarified butter)
Measure out the murmura and break it apart. In a pan chop the jaggery into small pieces for easy melting.
In a pan heat 1 tablespoon of ghee, add jaggery. Stir continuously until the jaggery melts and forms a thick syrup.
Drop a small amount of syrup into a bowl of water. It should form a firm ball (hard ball stage) when rolled between your fingers.
Once the jaggery syrup is ready, quickly add the murmura to the pan. Mix thoroughly until all the murmura is coated evenly.
Now, Transfer the mixture onto a greased plate. Press the mixture firmly and evenly into a square or rectangular shape, about 1/2 inch thick.
Allow the murmura chikki to cool completely for about 30 minutes. Once set cut it into square or diamond-shaped pieces. Serve and enjoy!
