You do not have to deep fry to enjoy crispy, golden onion rings; air frying them gives you the crunch you love with minimal oil. Perfect as a snack or side, these air-fried onion rings are light yet crunchy. Here is how to perfect this recipe:
2 large onions 1 cup breadcrumbs ½ cup besan (gram flour) ½ cup cornflour ½ tsp red chilli powder ¼ tsp black pepper powder Salt to taste ½ cup water 2 tbsp oil for spraying
Slice onions into rings and separate each layer carefully.
In a bowl, mix besan, cornflour, red chilli powder, black pepper, and salt.
Add water gradually to the dry mix until it forms a smooth, thick batter.
In another bowl, place breadcrumbs for coating. Dip each onion ring in the batter, shake off excess, then coat it with breadcrumbs.
Preheat the air fryer to 180°C for 3 minutes.
Place the onion rings in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spray with oil and cook at 180°C for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway. Serve hot!
