Craving a crunchy snack with your tea? Homemade matthi is the perfect traditional Indian snack to enjoy during teatime.
2 cups all-purpose flour (maida) 1/2 cup semolina (sooji) 1/4 cup carom seeds (ajwain) 1/4 cup ghee or oil Salt to taste Water as needed Oil for frying
In a bowl, combine flour, semolina, carom seeds, and salt. Add ghee and mix until crumbly.
Gradually add water and knead into a firm dough. Cover and let rest for 20 minutes.
Divide dough into small balls, roll each into a thin disc.
Prick discs with a fork to prevent puffing while frying
Heat oil in a pan, fry matthis on medium heat until golden brown and crisp.
Drain on paper towels, let cool, and enjoy with tea.
