Crispy And Spicy Murukku Recipe: A Step-By-Step Guide

Spicy Murukku, also known as Kara Murukku, is a crispy, flavourful snack made with rice flour. This homemade recipe is quick, easy, and perfect for satisfying savoury cravings.

Ingredients

1 cup rice flour 1 tbsp melted butter 1 tbsp red chilli powder 1 tsp sesame seeds A pinch of hing (asafoetida) Water as needed Salt to taste Oil for deep frying

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, melted butter, red chilli powder, sesame seeds, hing, and salt.

Step 2

Gradually add water and knead into a soft, non-sticky dough.

Step 3

Make cylindrical logs from the dough and prepare your murukku press with a flower plate.

Step 4

Grease the inside of the murukku press with oil and fill it with the dough.

Step 5

Press the dough to form spirals on a greased surface or ladles. Heat oil in a kadai and deep-fry the murukku spirals until golden brown on both sides.

Step 6

Store the crispy, spicy murukku in an airtight container once cooled. Enjoy as a delightful snack!
