The perfect blend of sweet corn kernels and delicious dal, this one is a winter-special dish you simply have to make. It tastes great with both rice and roti, so make it for any meal you like. Here’s the recipe.

½ cup moong dal 1 cup sweet corn kernels ½ tsp cumin seeds 1 dry red chilli ¼ tsp asafoetida ½ cup onions, chopped ½ cup tomatoes, chopped 1 tbsp turmeric powder ½ tsp cumin powder ½ tsp coriander powder ½ tsp garam masala 2 green chillies, chopped ½ cup fresh cream Salt to taste 1 tbsp ghee Water, as required

Place the moong dal in a cooker with water, salt and turmeric powder. Close and cook for 2-3 whistles.

In a wok, heat the ghee then add cumin seeds, dry red chilli and asafoetida.

Once these stop spluttering, add the onions, tomatoes, corn kernels, green chillies and the powdered spices.

Mix well and cook until the veggies are done, then add the cooked dal, salt and some more water if required.

Mix and cook for 10 minutes, then add fresh cream on top and serve while hot.
