Zanzanit Puneri Misal is a spicy and flavourful Maharashtrian dish that is popular as a breakfast or brunch item. It consists of sprouts cooked in a spicy gravy, topped with crunchy sev, onions, and coriander. Here's a recipe for Zanzanit Puneri Misal that you can try at home.
1 cup sprouted moth beans (matki) 1 onion, finely chopped 2 tomatoes, finely chopped 2-3 green chilies, slit lengthwise 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp coriander seeds 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder 1 tbsp misal masala 1 tbsp oil Salt, to taste Water, as required For serving: Farsan (sev), finely chopped onions, coriander leaves, lemon wedges
In a pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and coriander seeds. Let them splutter.
Add chopped onions and sauté till they turn translucent. Add ginger-garlic paste and slit green chillies. Sauté for a minute.
Add chopped tomatoes and sauté till they turn mushy. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and misal masala. Mix well.
Add sprouted moth beans and mix well. Add salt to taste. Add water as required and let it come to a boil. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 10-15 mins.
To serve, place a ladleful of the misal in a serving bowl. Top it with farsan, finely chopped onions, and coriander leaves. Squeeze some lemon juice on top and serve hot with bread or pav.
