Moong dal is supposed to keep your body warm in winter. It is an excellent ingredient to prepare savouries and sweets. If you have been craving sugar, follow this step-by-step guide to prepare moong dal barfi at home.
½ cup milk powder 1 cup moong dal ½ cup water Chopped nuts for garnishing ¾ cup milk ½ tsp cardamom powder 1 cup ghee Edible silver 5-6 saffron strands ¾ cup sugar or jaggery
Rinse moong dal and soak it for a couple of hours. Drain water and blend it.
Add a quarter cup of milk to it so make a smooth paste.
Heat ghee in a saucepan and add moong dal paste to it. Roast it until it becomes pale yellow.
Add milk powder, milk, and ghee. Cook until you have a mixture without lumps.
Add mawa to the moong dal mix and prepare sugar syrup on the side. Combine the two. Add more milk to adjust consistency.
Once the mixture starts folding like a dough, spread it on a plate, chill it, and cut it into barfi.
