Momos are dumplings that belong to the Tibetan cuisine and are  popular across South Asia. They consist of thin dough filled with a savoury mixture of meat or vegetables, steamed and served hot

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp salt 250 gms ground chicken or vegetables (like cabbage, carrots, and mushrooms) 1 small onion 2-3 cloves garlic 1-inch piece of ginger 2-3 green chilies 1 tbsp soy sauce Oil Water

Step 1

In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead until a smooth and elastic dough forms. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

Step 2

Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a minute. Add chopped onions.

Step 3

Add ground chicken or vegetables and cook until cooked through. Stir in soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute.

Step 4

Divide the dough into small balls, about 1-inch in diameter. Roll out each ball into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle.

Step 6

To pleat the momos, start folding and pinching the edges together to form pleats around the filling. Seal the top by pressing firmly.

Step 7

Grease a steamer basket with oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking. Steam the momos over boiling water for 10-12 minutes.
