South Indian onion-tomato chutney is a perfect addition to your weekend menu when you want to indulge in binge-watching and eating. Whether dosa and idli or spicy chips and crackers, the tangy-spicy dish pairs well with every finger food and traditional delicacies. Here is a quick guide on how to ace its recipe.
1 ripe tomato 2-3 garlic clove 2 large onions 2 teaspoons oil 2-3 dry red chillies Salt to taste 1 teaspoon mustard seeds ¼ teaspoon asafoetida
Heat oil in a shallow pot and add sliced onion and crushed garlic to it. Keep sauteing them until they are translucent or golden brown.
Add two red chillies, salt to taste, and tomatoes. Keep stirring this mixture until the tomatoes become mushy.
Once you have a paste-like consistency, keep the spicy mixture aside to cool down.
Add the onion-tomato paste to the blender and make a smooth paste of all the ingredients.
Take out chutney in a bowl and add tempering of mustard seeds and red chilli on the top.
Store the chutney in the refrigerator and enjoy it with chips, finger food, and other dishes over the weekend.
