Besan Ladoos are made from roasted gram flour, ghee, and sugar, often enjoyed during festivals like Diwali. Their rich, nutty flavour and melt-in-the-mouth texture make them a delightful treat, symbolising the warmth and joy of celebrations across India.
2 cups besan (gram flour) 1 cup ghee (clarified butter) 3/4 cup powdered sugar 1/4 tsp cardamom powder 2 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)
Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan on low heat. Add the besan and roast it on low flame, stirring continuously.
Cook until the besan turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma. This may take 10-15 minutes. Be patient to avoid burning.
Once the besan is well-roasted, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly, but not completely.
Add the powdered sugar and cardamom powder to the warm besan mixture. Mix well until the sugar is incorporated.
While the mixture is still warm, roll small portions into round laddus. You can add chopped nuts for added texture and flavour.
Let the ladoos cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.
