Tea time calls for a delicious snack that not only satiates your hunger but also leaves you in gastronomic heaven. Among popular street food items of South India, aloo bonda has the easiest recipe you can replicate at home.
1 chopped small onion 3 medium potatoes ½ cup besan ½ teaspoon turmeric powder & urad dal 1 teaspoon red chilli powder ¼ teaspoon cumin and mustard seeds 6-8 curry leaves 2 chopped green chillies 2-3 tablespoons rice flour ½ teaspoon fennel seeds 2 tablespoons coriander leaves ½ teaspoon garam masala & coriander powder 1 teaspoon lemon juice Oil for frying
Boil potatoes until they are done. Let them cool off and mash them into a smooth paste.
Roast urad dal, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves. Saute ginger along with chopped onions and green chillies.
Add potatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, fennel seeds, garam masala, coriander powder, lemon juice, and coriander leaves to the mix.
While the potato mixture is prepared, combine gram flour, rice flour, water, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.
Once the potato mixture cools off, make small balls with it. Dip these balls in the besan mixture and deep fry aloo bonda in a kadhai.
Serve aloo bonda with chutney of your choice and tea or coffee.
