Among popular choices for Indo-Chinese appetisers, chilli chicken tops the list. Medium chunks of meat are cooked in a flavourful sauce and topped with sesame seeds. This is a perfect evening snack to pair with alcoholic beverages.
For Chicken 1.5 tsp red chilli sauce ¼ tsp red chilli powder Salt to taste 250 grams of boneless chicken 2-3 tbsp cornstarch 2 tbsp water ¼ tsp black pepper 1.5 tsp soy sauce 1.5-2 tbsp maida
For Sauce 2 tbsp tomato ketchup ¼ tsp pepper 1 tbsp soy sauce 1-2 deseeded green chillies 1 tbsp bell peppers 1 scallion 1 tbsp garlic 1 tsp vinegar ½ tsp red chilli powder 2 tbsp spring onion 2-3 tbsp water 2 tbsp red chilli sauce
Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces and marinate in the mixture of spices, sauces, and flour.
After refrigerating the marinated chicken overnight, shallow fry or deep-fry the boneless chicken until crispy.
Heat a wok, add oil and toss around large chunks of onion. Once it is done, add bell peppers too.
Add all the sauces to the mix along with some vinegar and water. Toss the ingredients on high heat.
Add fried chicken to the mix and allow it to coat well with the saucy concoction. Garnish with fresh spring onions and toasted sesame seeds.
