The Hyderabadi chicken curry recipe is among the most delicious dishes that you will ever taste in the city of Nizams. It is buttery, flavourful, and oh-so delicious. If you are craving it, make it in Hyderabadi style at home in a few simple steps.
For Chicken Marination 500-700 gm chicken 1 teaspoon red chilli powder 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste ½ teaspoon cumin powder 1 teaspoon garam masala 1 cup curd Salt to taste 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
For Curry 1 cinnamon stick 4-5 chopped onions Water as required 1 teaspoon cumin powder Salt to taste 2 bay leaves 2 tablespoons freshly chopped coriander 5-6 green chillies 1 teaspoon red chilli powder 2 tablespoons ghee 1 teaspoon garam masala
Combine all the ingredients for marination and coat the chicken nicely with the mixture. Keep it aside for at least an hour.
In a deep pan, add ghee, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, and cardamom. Saute for a few minutes.
Add chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste (optional), turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and chopped green chillies to the pan.
Once onions become translucent, add water, cumin powder, and marinated chicken to the pan, reduce the flame to low heat, cover it with a lid, and allow it to cook for 20-30 minutes.
Add garam masala and freshly chopped coriander leaves on the top. Allow the curry to simmer for a couple of minutes and serve it hot with naan and rice.
