Old Delhi or Purani Delhi is famous for its culinary delights. Be its spicy Chicken tikka masala with nun or sharbat, the city never fails to impress its visitors or inhabitants. In this hot summer, all is wanting to cool themselves with ice cream or thandai made from fresh seasonal fruits. Here are some of the fruit punch found in old Delhi:
Kuremal Mohan Lal Kulfi started in 1906 is famous for kesar pista rabri kulfi. However, this summer, the shop is extending its hand in kulfi-stuffed fruits. They are selling fruity julpeps flavours like jamun, falsa, aam panna, kala khatta.
Although mango and paneer seem to be bizzard combination, the Jain Coffee House has been selling fruit sandwich made of this combination since 1936. On a slice of bread, a layer of thinly-sliced paneer is added, on top of it goes kesar mango slices, dressed with sweet mango puree and butter.
Located just opposite to Jama Masjid, this sharbat is a refreshing milk-based beverage made with chunks of watermelon.
It is a plate full of colour and freshness. Boiled chana and pomegranate, seasoned with chaat masala and lime juice is is stuffed into hollowed-out tomatoes and cucumbers to make this snack.
This is an authentic food of summer made with all seasonal fruits like mangoes. pineapple, papaya and others. Seasoned with some chaat masala, this fruit chaat provides relief.
