Summer days can be hard to handle in India, but with a delicious strawberry G&T in hand, things always seem better. Here's how to make this simple but delicious cocktail at home.
1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced 1 cup granulated sugar 1 cup water 2 ounces gin Tonic water Ice cubes Fresh strawberries, for garnish Fresh mint leaves, for garnish Lime wedges, for garnish
In a saucepan, combine the fresh strawberries, granulated sugar, and water. Place the pan over medium heat and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the strawberry syrup cool for a few minutes. Then, pour the mixture into a blender or use an immersion blender to puree until smooth. Strain and let it cool.
Fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour 2 ounces of gin over the ice. Add 1-2 tablespoons of the strawberry syrup to the glass, depending on your desired sweetness. Adjust the amount to taste.
Top off the glass with tonic water, leaving some space for garnishes and stirring. Give the drink a gentle stir to mix the ingredients together. Garnish the glass with fresh strawberry slices, a sprig of mint, and a lime wedge.
