Referred to as ‘little onions,’ shallots are a close alternative to onions. However, they are milder and sweeter in flavour. They are used in salads dressings, sauces and vinaigrettes.

They are mild and slightly sweet in taste and can be used as a substitute of onions. They are mostly used in soups, casseroles and even quinches.
