Cooking Tip: Make Restaurant Style Naan At Home

By Deepali Verma

Speaking about breads, butter naan is a favourite of many people. This leavened flatbread is often prepared in a tandoor and is made of maida. This time, you can have your favourite butter naan without going to a restaurant. To prepare butter naan that is comparable to what you would find in a restaurant, we have compiled simple and easy tips.

Flour Type Matters

While creating naan, the type of flour you use has a significant impact on how it turns out. To create restaurant-style butter naan at home, it is advisable to use maida or all-purpose flour.

Role of Yeast

An further crucial ingredient in naan is yeast. Add 1/2 teaspoon of yeast as you are incorporating all the dough ingredients.

Rest The Dough

The majority of us regularly ignore this. The dough should rest for one to two hours after all the ingredients have been incorporated to make a smooth dough.

Kneading

To make sure that your naan is as smooth as the ones you get in restaurants, knead the dough thoroughly. Gluten is developed during the kneading phase, giving the butter naan its chewy texture.

Traditionally, a tandoor is used to prepare naan. The naan is best prepared on a hot tawa as the majority of us do not have access to a tandoor.
