Cooking quinoa in a pressure cooker is a quick and easy method to achieve fluffy and perfectly cooked grains. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide.
1 cup quinoa 1.5 cups water or vegetable broth 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp oil or butter
Place the quinoa in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it under cold water for a minute. This helps to remove the natural bitter coating.
Add the rinsed quinoa to the pressure cooker. Pour in the water or vegetable broth. The 1:1.5 quinoa-to-water ratio works well for most pressure cookers.
Add a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of oil or butter for extra flavour.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker and ensure the vent is set to the sealing position.Cook the quinoa on high pressure for 1 minute.
Once the cooking time is complete, let the pressure release naturally for about 10 minutes. After that, release any remaining pressure manually.
Open the lid carefully. Use a fork to fluff the quinoa, and it’s ready to serve.
