Cooking quinoa correctly involves rinsing the grains thoroughly, using the right water-to-quinoa ratio, and allowing it to simmer to perfection. Quinoa should be light, fluffy, and not mushy if cooked properly. It can then be used in salads, bowls, or as a side dish.
Rinse quinoa under cold water to remove its bitter coating (saponin).
Use 2 cups of water for every 1 cup of quinoa.
In a pot, bring the water and quinoa to a boil.
Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15–20 minutes until the water is absorbed.
Once cooked, fluff the quinoa with a fork to separate the grains.
Add a pinch of salt, olive oil, or lemon juice to enhance the flavour, depending on your dish.
