Rajma Chawal is a loved North Indian dish consisting of red kidney bean curry (rajma) served with steamed rice (chawal). It's a wholesome, comforting meal rich in protein and flavor, perfect for a satisfying and nutritious lunch or dinner.
1 cup dried rajma (kidney beans), soaked overnight 2 tbsp oil or ghee 1 onion 2 tomatoes 2 green chilies
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chili powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp garam masala Salt Fresh Coriander
Pressure cook rajma that has been soaked overnight and then drained, with enough water and a pinch of salt for about 15-20 minutes.
Heat oil, add cumin seeds. Add the chopped onions and sauté. Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chillies. Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until mushy.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and salt. Add the cooked rajma along with its cooking liquid to the pan.
Reduce the heat and let the curry simmer for 15-20 minutes. Stir in the garam masala and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Garnish with fresh, chopped coriander leaves.
