Taking the leftover idlis and chopping them into bite-sized pieces, you can whip up chilli idli and serve as an appetiser or a mid-day snack. With this step-by-step guide, why don’t you try making it at home?
7-8 premade idlis 1 onion 2-3 green chillies 1 tomato 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste 1 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1/2 tsp garam masala A pinch of hing Coriander leaves for garnish Curry leaves for garnish Oil for cooking Salt to taste
Heat some oil and add cumin seeds. Mix in onion, green chillies, and ginger-garlic paste.
Once the mixture is fragrant, add chopped tomatoes and all the spices.
Mash the tomatoes and cook till you get a thick gravy. Season with salt.
Chop the premade idlis into bites and coat them in the masala. Cook for a few minutes.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves, and serve hot.
