Chicken curry is a warm, flavourful dish featuring tender chicken simmered in a spiced, aromatic gravy. It’s a perfect blend of rich spices and soothing flavours, offering a satisfying meal that pairs beautifully with rice or roti, making it a comforting classic.
500 gms chicken 2 tbsp oil 1 large onion 2 tomatoes 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp cumin powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1/2 tsp garam masala 1/2 cup yoghurt
Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2-3 minutes until the raw smell disappears. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder. Cook the spices for 1-2 minutes.
Add the chicken pieces and mix well, coating them with the spice mixture. Cook for about 5 minutes until the chicken starts to brown slightly.
Add salt and a little water (about 1/2 cup) to the pan. Add yoghurt and mix well. Cover the pan and let the curry simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Sprinkle garam masala over the curry and mix well. Cook for another 2 minutes. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
