Lauki chana dal is a crucial part of the Nahaye Khaye thali on Chhath. But it is also a nutritious delight that you can prepare on a regular day if you want to indulge in a comfort meal. Here is the recipe.
¼ cup chana dal ½ tsp cumin seeds 1.5 cups chopped lauki ¾ tsp red chilli powder 1 medium tomato ¼ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp coriander powder Salt to taste ¾ cups water 2 tbsp ghee/ oil, coriander leaves 1-inch cinnamon
Wash and soak chana dal in a bowl. Cook it in a pressure cooker along with turmeric and cinnamon.
Take a kadhai and prepare a tempering of green chillies (optional) and cumin seeds. Add lauki to it.
Sprinkle red chilli powder and fold in tomatoes in the pan. Top it with salt to taste.
Once tomatoes and lauki are slightly mushy, pour the cooked dal into the kadhai. Put on the lid.
Let the ingredients cook on a medium flame for 8-10 minutes.
Garnish lauki chana dal with chopped coriander leaves and serve.
