Chhath 2022: Easy Steps To Make Thekua

Step 1

Take 1.25 cups wheat flour, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp fennel seeds, 1 tbsp grated coconut and 1/2 tsp cardamom powder in a bowl. Mix well. • In small bowl or pan, melt ghee until hot.

Step 2

In a pan, melt ghee. Add the dry ingredients and mix. Using fingers, mix ghee with the flour until it attains desired consistency. 

Step 3

Take a saucepan and melt jaggery in water. Add hot jaggery solution in parts to the flour and mix with a spoon.

Step 4

Keep on adding in parts and mixing. Knead lightly and make a semi-soft dough. Cover it with a towel.

Step 5

Make small balls from the dough and lightly flatten the dough balls with a rolling pin.

Step 6

Press the flattened discs and make patterns. Keep it covered with a napkin. Then, fry in oil.
