Cherries surely taste good as they are, but how about you combine them with a cake? Bake this Cherry cake for your best dessert game to impress everyone.
For the cake: 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder ½ teaspoon baking soda ¼ teaspoon salt 1 cup unsalted butter, softened 1 cup granulated sugar 2 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup buttermilk 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted and halved
For the glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar 2-3 tablespoons milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract A few drops of red food colouring
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
Alternately, add dry and wet ingredients to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Gently fold in the cherries. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35-40 minutes.
While the cake is baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and to make a glaze.
Once the cake is cool, drizzle the glaze over the top.
