It is a common practice among Hindus to observe fast during the nine-day festival, Chaitra Navratri. People offer prayers to the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga and break their fast after day long. Laddoos are a popular choice for consumption during fasting. Here are six types of laddoos that are enjoyed during Navratri fasting:
This laddoo is made with water chestnut flour (singhare ke atta), ghee and sugar, these laddoos are delicious and perfect for fasting days.
Sabudana is the staple ingredient during fasting period. Mixed soaked sabudana with mashed potatoes, sugar, cardamom powder to make these laddoos.
Buckwheat flour or kuttu ka atta is widely used during fasting period. Combine kuttu flour with powdered sugar, ghee and chopped nuts to make tasty laddoos.
Rajgira flour is rich in nutrients and commonly used during fasting. Mix rajgira flour with jaggery, ghee and chopped nuts to prepare these nutritious laddoo.
Coconut is a proper fasting food and laddoos can be made out of it. Combine dessicated coconut, condensed milk, cardamom powder to make these laddoos.
Dry fruits like almonds, dates, cashews, raisins can be easily consumed during fasting. Grind these dry fruits into a coarse powder and mix with jaggery to form laddoo.
