Chai Latte At Home: In Six Easy Steps

You don't need to head to a pricey cafe to order a chai latte. You can make a perfectly brewed and delicious chai latte at home with some simple ingredients in less than 15 minutes. Let's have a look!

Ingredients

2 cinnamon sticks  10 whole cloves  6 green cardamom pods  4 cups water  1 fresh ginger, thinly sliced  2 tablespoons loose-leaf black tea  1/2 cup sweetener (brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup) 3 cups cold whole milk

Step 1

Toast the spices over medium heat and toast for 3-4 minutes, until fragrant. Thinly slice 1 (2-inch) piece of fresh ginger.

Step 2

For brewing the tea, add 4 cups water and thinly sliced fresh ginger and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 3

Steep the tea. Remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons loose-leaf black tea, or 6 black tea bags. Cover and steep for 10 minutes.

Step 4

While the tea is still warm, add 1/2 cup sweetener of your choice. if you're using maple syrup, stir until it's mixed in

Step 5

Strain the tea through a fine-mesh strainer into a warm tumbler to keep it hot while you froth the milk. Froth 3 cups cold milk by shaking it in a jar or by whisking it vigorously over medium-high heat.

Step 6

Heat the milk. Heat the frothed milk in a small saucepan over low heat until warm. Pour 3/4 cup of the warm tea base into a mug, add 1/2 cup of warmed milk and stir. Top it with some froth
