The hot Indian summers call for foods that are cooling, hydrating and easy on the stomach. Here are a few summer delights to try this season:
A refreshing drink made from raw mangoes, cumin, mint and sugar. Provides instant energy and cools the body.
It is a delicious snack made by soaking lentil dumplings in a yoghurt-based sauce.
A summer snack made with sliced cucumber, cream cheese and slices of bread.
Crispy, hollow puris filled with spiced potatoes, chickpeas, chutneys and flavoured water. Provides instant hydration.
Water-rich and sweet, eaten as juice or fruit. Helps keep the body cool.
This drink, made from the kokum fruit, has cooling properties. It is sometimes flavoured with lemon and sugar.
