Celebrate 78th Independence Day By Making Tiranga Pulao

As the country has begun celebrating the 78th Independence Day in all its glory, surprise your family and friends by serving tricolour pulao on the spread. It is easy to make and will set the vibe for the day. 

Ingredients

For Carrot Rice 1 grated carrot 1 cup basmati rice 5-6 curry leaves 1 tbsp ghee ¼ chopped onion ½ tsp mustard and cumin seeds 2 green chillies Salt to taste ¼ tsp turmeric 8-10 cashews

Ingredients

For Jeera Rice 1 cup basmati rice Salt to taste 10 cashews, raisins, dry fruits Whole spices 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tbsp ghee 1 tbsp ghee ½ sliced onion For Palak Rice 1 cup basmati rice 1 tbsp ghee Salt to taste 2 slit green chillies 1 cup palak ¼ cup green peas

Step 1

To prepare carrot rice, saute carrots, spices, and vegetables in a pan. Once they cool off, blend them into a smooth paste.

Step 2

Cook rice in this paste and top it with roasted cashews.

Step 3

To prepare jeera rice, saute cumin, cinnamon, star anise, and dry fruits in ghee. Cook basmati rice in this mixture.

Step 4

To prepare palak rice, sauteed spinach, onion, spices, and peas in ghee. Turn ¼ of this mixture into puree.

Step 5

Cook basmati rice in the mixture, and once half done, add the puree. Green-hued pulao will be ready.

Step 6

Take a large tray and arrange the tri-coloured rice in the order of colours in the national flag of India.
