Broccoli Poriyal: A Quick Stir-Fry Dish For Your Meals

This is a South Indian vegan dish that is made with broccoli, fresh coconut and tempered with spices like mustard seeds, cumin and asafoetida. Here is an easy recipe to make broccoli poriyal at home.

Ingredients

2 cups broccoli cut into small florets 1 small onion finely chopped 2 green chilli finely chopped 2 tablespoon shredded coconut ½ teaspoon mustard seeds ½ teaspoon cumin seeds 2 sprig curry leaves a pinch asafoetida Salt as per taste 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Step 1

Heat oil in a pan, temper with mustard, cumin, and let it splutter for a few seconds. Next, add the green chilies, hing, curry leaves, and sauté for another 30 seconds.

Step 2

After a few seconds, add the chopped onion and sauté till the onions are translucent and light brown.

Step 3

Then add the broccoli, salt, and stir-fry on medium-low flame until soft and tender.

Step 4

Turn off the gas and sprinkle fresh shredded coconut and combine well. Serve the Indian-style broccoli stir fry along with rice and rasam.
