Bread Pakoda: Quick Fix For Your Hunger Pangs

This popular street side snack from north India has bread wrapped in a gram flour batter, and deep fried. An irresistibly delicious snack! 

Ingredients

10-12 Bread sliced (cut) For the batter: 250 gms besan (gram flour) Water (as needed) 1 tsp chilli powder 1 tsp haldi (turmeric ) 1 tsp jeera powder To taste salt 1/2 tsp meetha soda (soda bi-carbonate) Oil (for deep frying) 2 tsp chaat masala (to garnish) 

Step 1

Make a thick batter with water, flour, red chilli powder, cumin, turmeric, salt and soda bi-carb. 

Step 2

Coat each piece of bread with the batter and deep fry.

Step 3

Sprinkle with chaat masala and serve with mint chutney or tomato ketchup.
