While fictional characters are meant to stay on the other side of the screen, sometimes an imagination runs wild and turns them into reality just like this cocktail.
Brandy Alexander, for the unversed, is a mild boozy drink made with crème de cacao, whipped cream and brandy, of course.
It is said that the cocktail was created by a Troy Alexander, a bartender working at Rector’s, a popular restaurant in New York in the 20th century.
The popular belief suggests that Alexander was inspired by Phoebe Snow, a fictional cartoon woman dressed in white hat, gloves and dress. That’s how he made this white, frothy drink.
• 2-ounce brandy • 2-ounce dark crème de cacao liqueur • 2-ounce whipped cream • 3-4 ice cubes • Freshly grated nutmeg, for garnish
In a cocktail shaker or any shaker filled with ice cubes, pour the crème de cacao, brandy with whipped cream, and shake it well.
Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg. Your delightful Brandy Alexander is ready.
