The South Indian bonda is a deep-fried snack that can be filled up in various ways. Not just classic aloo bondas, we’ve got some with eggs and bananas too.
If you’ve got raw bananas, it is time to dunk them into a bonda. Stuffed with mashed bananas, puffed rice and spices, the bonda is deep-fried with gram flour.
The OG bonda of the deep-fried snack family, one can never go wrong with potatoes coated in gram flour batter. Hot and crispy, they perfectly pair with tomato ketchup.
Need we give this an introduction since the name says it all. The Southy cousin of batata vada, this is made of urad dal, grated coconut and rice flour.
Don’t skip your breakfast eggs, just make a bonda out of them. Hard-boiled eggs dipped in a spicy besan batter turn out crispy, crunchy and irresistible.
While the North enjoys pyaaz pakoras, the South fries up their onion bondas. Sliced onions combined with spices and coated in gram and rice flour are the perfect monsoon breakfast.
