If you’re in the habit of enjoying a sweet something after every meal, these cakey-dense cookies are glazed with both – chocolate and vanilla icing for a dual flavour experience. Best eaten fresh out of the oven, savour these baked treats with a cup of coffee or on its own, in solitude.

1 + ¼ cup all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon baking powder ¼ cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 6 tablespoons soft butter 1 egg ½ cup sugar 1 pinch salt

1.5 cups powdered sugar 4 tablespoons milk ½ teaspoon vanilla extract ¼ cup Dutch cocoa powder

Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius while you cream the butter, sugar and vanilla in a mixing bowl.

Add the egg and milk and fold to combine before adding the remaining dry ingredients and kneading into a dough.

Allow the dough to sit covered in the refrigerator for 45 minutes, before rolling out into a ½-inch thick sheet.

Use a cookie cutter to cut out pieces and place on a lined baking sheet.

Bake for 12-15 minutes but check if cooked through before removing from the oven.

Cool the cookies on a wire rack while you combine the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla in a separate bowl.

Divide the glaze into two portions and add the cocoa powder to one of them and mix well.
