Bhojpuri bafauri is a popular dish from the Bhojpuri region of India, made with ground lentils and spices. It's a delicious and healthy dish that can be enjoyed as a snack or as a meal.
1 cup chana dal ½ cup urad dal ½ cup moong dal ½ cup masoor dal 1 onion, finely chopped 2 green chillies, finely chopped 2 tsp ginger, grated
tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp coriander seeds 1 tsp fennel seeds 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp garam masala ¼ tsp asafoetida (hing) Salt to taste Oil for frying
Wash all the dals in water, and soak them in enough water for at least 4-5 hours.
Drain the water and grind the dals into a fine paste. Add a little water if needed to get the right consistency.
Add the chopped onions, green chilies, and grated ginger to the dal paste and mix well.
Roast the cumin seeds, coriander seeds, and fennel seeds in a pan until they turn fragrant. Grind them into a fine powder.
Add the powdered spices, red chili powder, garam masala, asafoetida, and salt to the dal mixture and mix well.
Heat oil in a deep pan for frying. Make small balls of the dal mixture and flatten them into discs with your palms. Fry till golden and serve hot.
