Begun Poda- The Bengali Delight Of Charred Eggplant

Everytime we talk about a Bengali dish, something unique comes up. Today, let us talk about a charred eggplant dish called begun poda.  Here is a delicious recipe for begun poda for you.

Ingredients

2 whole eggplants 5-6 garlic pods 1 Chopped onion 1 Chopped green chilli 1 tsp Mustard oil Salt as per taste

Step 1

Slice the eggplant halfway and put salt on the flesh. Insert garlic pods in it and put it on gas grill on a low flame.

Step 2

Cook the eggplant properly on all sides. After it is charred, put it in cold water and take the peel off.

Step 3

In a bowl, add the peeled eggplant flesh and mash it properly.

Step 4

Add the mustard oil, salt and chopped veggies to the eggplant. Serve with steamed rice and enjoy your meal.
