Beetroot Rasam: A Cozy Soup For Chilly Weather

Made with beetroots, tamarind, garlic, jaggery and spices, this rasam is perfect to keep yourself warm during the chilly weather of winter. Here is an easy recipe to make beetroot rasam at home.

Ingredients

2 beetroots (peeled, boiled and chopped) 1 lime size tamarind (soaked) 1 tsp rasam powder 6 flakes garlic 1/2 lime size jaggery 1/2 tsp turmeric powder - a pinch of asafoetida 1 tsp ghee 1/2 tsp mustard seeds salt to taste coriander leaves to garnish

Step 1

Blend the boiled beetroot pieces in a blender till soft and smooth. Add beetroot pulp to it. Put on a slow fire.

Step 2

Add the rasam powder, turmeric, salt and jaggery. Then add the chopped coriander leaves. Let it boil for some time.

Step 3

In a small wok, heat ghee, add mustard and let it crackle. Add the garlic flakes and asafoetida.

Pour this over the rasam. Serve hot with rice.
