Beetroot chilla is the powerhouse of nutrition. It is a must-try for breakfast especially if your New Year resolution includes eating healthy. This recipe is an easy-to-follow guide if you are new to cooking.
1 cup besan 2 boiled beetroot A pinch of asafoetida Water as needed 2 tbsp oil 1 chopped onion 1 chopped tomato Salt to taste ½ tsp carom seeds 2 tbsp coriander leaves 200 grams of grated paneer (optional)
Boil beetroots in a pan, peel the skin, and grind them into a bright pink puree.
Pour the puree into a bowl comprising besan and spices.
Add water to the mixture and stir the ingredients to make a smooth semi-thick batter.
Spread a ladle of the chilla batter on a hot griddle.
Spread ghee on the edges. Once the base is cooked, sprinkle coriander leaves, chopped onions, tomatoes, and grated paneer.
As soon as the base turns crispy, serve the beetroot chilla with chutney.
