Bel Sharbat is a refreshing and nutritious drink made from the pulp of the bel fruit. This is a perfect summer beverage known for its cooling properties and health benefits. Take a look at the simple recipe to make this revitalising drink:
1 ripe bel fruit 4 cups of water 1 cup of sugar (adjust to taste) 1 tablespoon of lemon juice (optional) A pinch of black salt (optional) Ice cubes
Start by washing the bel fruit thoroughly. Using a heavy knife or a rolling pin, crack open the hard outer shell. Scoop out the soft, fibrous pulp into a bowl.
Add 4 cups of water to the bowl containing the bel pulp. Use your hands to mash the pulp well, ensuring that it blends thoroughly with the water. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes.
Using a fine sieve or a muslin cloth, strain the mixture to separate the seeds and fibrous parts from the liquid. Press down with a spoon to extract as much juice as possible.
Add sugar to the strained liquid and stir until completely dissolved. For an added tang, mix in lemon juice. A pinch of black salt can enhance the flavour further.
Pour the bel sharbat into glasses, add ice cubes, and serve chilled.
