Made with a lot of flavourful spices like cumin, red chilli powder, chaat masala and so on, this Banarasi street delight is very delicious in taste. Here is an easy recipe to make tamatar chaat at home.

5 tomatoes, 10-12 namakpara (crushed), 1 tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp black pepper powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala powder, 1/2 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, salt to taste, 4-5 tbsp ghee, 3-4 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp tomato ketchup, 1 ½ tbsp ginger (finely shredded), 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves (chopped), 2 tbsp potatoes (boiled and peeled)

Mash the boiled potatoes and put them into a bowl. Add chilli powder, black pepper, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well.

Scoop out the flesh from 4 tomatoes and reserve the pulp. Stuff the tomatoes with the potato mixture. Heat ghee in a skillet and add the prepared tomatoes to it.

Cover it with a lid and cook on medium heat until soft. Mash them with a spoon till both are properly combined. Grind the remaining tomatoes into a puree.

Heat remaining ghee in a non-stick pan and cook the puree with sugar, salt and ketchup for 2-3 minutes. Serve it with a garnish of ginger, coriander leaves and crushed namakpara.
