Baked Gujiya: Say 'Bye Bye' To Frying This Holi

Gujiya, traditional Indian food for Holi festival

Ingredients

500 gm maida Pinch of salt 20 ml refined oil 200 gm margarine 250 ml water For Khoya Stuffing 550 gm khoya 100 gm coconut powder 20 gm chirounji 100 gm cashews 100 gm sugar Pinch of cardamom powder 150 gm raisins

Step 1

Take maida, oil and water. Add salt and knead properly. Let the dough rest for 20 minutes.

Step 2

Now, roll the dough and spread margarine in the center. Cover with the rolled dough and seal like an envelope. Let it rest for at least 10 minutes.

Roll again and do a book fold and then rest. Roll and cot into roundels.

Step 4

To make the filling, mix all the ingredients and form a stuffing. Fill each gujiya with the scoopful of the stuffing.

Now, place the gujiyas on the baking tray and apply a coat of milk on them using a brush.

Bake at 230 degree C for 25 to 30 minutes. When done, serve and have a Happy Holi!
