Bajra Khichdi: Light And Healthy Lunch Option

Urad bajra khichdi is a delicious recipe made from bajra (Pearl millet), white rice, urad dal, toor dal, and fresh spices. It is a light dish that can be made for lunch and dinner. Best served with buttermilk, this dish is loaded with health benefits of bajra and lentils. Here's the recipe for Bajra Khichdi.

Ingredients

250g pearl millet 50g urad dal 50g toor daal 50g rice Ghee Salt as required Cumin seeds 50g onion 50g tomato Green chilli

Step 1

Remove the bajra husk by winnowing. Add the ready bajra and washed rice, urad dal, toor dal to a pot with water and salt. Cook it in the pressure cooker for 5 whistles on medium heat or cook till done.

Step 2

In a separate pan add ghee, pop in some cumin seeds, chopped onion, chopped tomatoes and add to it cooked bajra mixture. If required add more hot water to adjust the consistency and then simmer for 10 minutes.

Serve hot with lots of ghee on top. Bajra khichdi is best served with ghee on top or buttermilk.
